The UV tubes are very much like a fluorescent lamp. The more they are turned on/off the shorter the life of the tubes.
Examples:
1, If you turn on the unit and run it constantly without turning it on/off the tubes are expected to last about 2-3 years before ceasing to operate
2, If you turn the ozone generator on/off once per day and run it for 10-24hrs, after 1 year the output will be down to about 70% of the rated output. The unit will still operate and the UV tubes will last about 18-24+ months before ceasing to operate.
3, If you turn the ozone generator on/off about 3-4 times per day for 10 minutes the tubes are expected to last about 1 year before ceasing to operate.
4, if you use one of our adjustable output UV ozone generators and run it 24/7 at a low level such as ~ number 2 on the dial the tubes are expected to last 2-4 years+. Output will be down to 70% after about 18-24 months.
